Common questions about local document anonymization
Can I use it offline?
The selected AI model requires a separate internet download. Once downloaded, document processing can run locally on your Mac.
Which PDFs work?
Supported text, scanned and mixed PDFs. On-device OCR checks supported scanned pages. Results vary with scan quality and layout.
What about Word files and images?
The app supports DOCX and PPTX files and checks supported images in documents. OCR and face detection have limits.
What happens if export is blocked?
The app explains why and may offer text export or a new processing run. Check any exported file before sharing.
Does it guarantee anonymization?
No. Human review of the result and exported file is required. Your organization remains responsible for review, sharing and compliance decisions.
What are the requirements?
Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 15 or later, at least 24 GB RAM and enough space for the selected AI model.
Is it on the Mac App Store?
AInonymizer is currently in beta. Public Mac App Store availability will be announced when live.
